11.Nunobiki Herb Garden & Ropeway

When taking the Nunobiki Ropeway that travels to the Nunobuki Herb Garden at the top of one of Kobe’s high hills, you can enjoy breathtaking views of the City of Kobe. There are also other famous sights along the way such as Nunobiki Falls (Nunobiki no Taki), which is one of the 100 best waterfalls in Japan, and the Nunobiki Gohonmatsu Dam, which is designated as an important cultural asset of Japan.

The Kobe Nunobiki Herb Garden, which is one of the largest herb gardens in Japan, is designed to resemble an old European castle from the Middle Ages.

Growing within the herb garden are 75,000 herbs. With 200 different types of herbs growing throughout the year, visitors can enjoy different varieties season by season. Also, here is a restaurant specializing in dishes seasoned with the garden’s herbs and spices. For visitors wanting to rest their tired feet, there is a foot bath filled with herbs freshly picked from the garden.
